Kathy Spear - Expert Framer

Kathy is recently rediscovering the history and architectural joys of Burlington County. A long time NJ resident, she has a strong background in crafts and the arts. After many summer adventures along the strees and waterways of Mount Holly and Smithville, Kathy is thrilled to join the Home Fine Art community of artists as a custom framer.

"I think that all of my education, experience and upbringing have found the perfect outlet for self-expression and human interaction in the form of custom framing. I love hearing the story behind the picture; the christening gown; the attic treasure and the child's drawing. I feel like I have made many friends and connections to the past from the type of memories, photographs and art that I have helped frame for preservation and display."

Kathy started framing professionally more than eight years ago and has worked with several well-known retail outlets developing strong skills in preservation and object framing. In addition to a degree program in Business Administration from Penn State, Kathy has completed an Interior Design Certificate with Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences.

"Education never ends; attending classes and framing seminars helps me keep current in custom framing developments and popular trends. I have a diverse background; having done tile setting, demolition work, and organized motorcycle events. Custom Framing combines the best of everything I have ever learned - watching Dad with a home construction project or a conservationist with the Smithsonian Institute demonstrating a preservation mounting technique - into one package that you can proudly display in your home. I can't think of anything I would rather do than frame."

Kathy has studied ceramics at Philadelphia College of Art, Adrmore Art Alliance and Perkins Center for the Arts. She studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Art and with Jim Scannell at Perkins; Glass Fusing at Fleisher Art Memorial with Lucartha Kohler and pastel painting with fellow Home Fine Art member, Myra Ryan.
