JAN TERRY
"Creating art has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. Born and raised in New Jersey I have spent most of my life here, moving to Pemberton in 1991 from Roosevelt NJ. Living briefly in Florida I was introduced to watercolor through classes at the Jacksonville Art Museum. Fast drying and portable, watercolor fit into my busy schedule as mom to four young sons.

Upon my return to New Jersey I became involved in community and school activities. This provided opportunities to organize local art shows and cultural events. I also helped obtain a grant for a community summer arts program.

As my children grew up I became a working mom. As a make-up artist painting faces took priority over painting watercolors. Doing calligraphy during those years allowed me to keep my hand in, but I finally found my way back to watercolor. In 1996 I began taking classes with area artists Valerie Smith-Pope, Louis Panagini and Robert Hyer. Currently I exhibit locally and belong to a cooperative gallery "Home Fine Art" in Mt. Holly. I teach watercolor classes in the area for adults and children."
